Achievements of the Present Management
The present Management under the leadership of General Manager Yiljap Abraham recorded the following laudable achievements during the period under review.
STUDIO CAMERAS/EDITING MACHINES
A total of 12 video and still digital cameras and 6 red heads have been purchased while 4 old cameras refurbished.
AVIATION LIGHT/DIGITAL AUDIO WORK STATION
Aviation light was installed at the Miango AM station mast to project aeroplanes as they fly in the night as demanded by law. A digital audio work station was also reactivated.
INTERNET CONNECTIVITY
Internet service is connected and is presently functional in all areas of operation, newsrooms and some key offices to meet up with modern trends in broadcasting.
COMPUTERS/PHOTOCOPIERS
Management provided computers in most offices and two digital photocopiers to enhance the quality output of work.
SANITATION
PRTVC in the year under review embarked on cleaning and clearing of over grown grasses in all locati®ns of the Corporation. Items such as cutlasses, cleaning detergents, hoes etc were provided for all cleaners.
GENERATING PLANTS/RECHARGEABLE LAMPS
A 2OKVA and 6KVA standby generators were purchased for use at the Administrative Headquarters which houses the AM and FM studios. Rechargeable lamps were also provided for all offices, transmission areas as well as torch lights in all official vehicles.
OFFICE FURNITURE
Additional modern office furniture were purchased. Management
also renovated, tiled and furnished offices of all the Directors.
ACCOMMODATION
Shendam transmission station was roofed and ceiling work fully done for a befitting accommodation. National Youth Service Corps [NYSC] members are also provided accommodation at the former Broadcasting House.
PURCHASE/REPAIRS OF VEHICLES
The Corporation also purchased four vehicles and overhauled the
old ones to convey staff to their various assignments.
TRAINING
Training is one of the thrust of the present Management. As such, many staff have been sent on academic and professional courses all over the Country. The following in-house workshops have been held in recent past:
- In-House Refreshers on Industrial Broadcasting in conjunction with Media-Web.
- In-House Camera Workshop
- In-Plant Basic Elocution Workshop for Reporters, Presenters and Producers in conjunction with Azuyans Services, Lagos
- General Orientation for All Staff Members on Coverage of Local Government Elections in Plateau State
- Modern Approaches to Marketing in Media Industry in conjunction with Jos Business School
RENOVATION
The Corporation undertook the renovation and refurbishing of the Rayfield and Headquarters Canteens with their toilets while new ones [toilets] are built at the Corporate Headquarters along J.D. Gomwalk Road, Rayfield and Miango Road Stations. New studios doors are fixed to avoid interference of external sounds when on air.
BOREHOLE
The Management has also provided water from borehole at the Rayfield Station and the Corporate Headquarters.
ANNUAL PROGRAMMES
As part of its social responsibility to the public, the Corporation organized the Day for the Physically Challenged, Five-Aside Football Competition, Christmas Tree Lighting, Carols and Nine Lessons, Schools Funfair and the Christmas Family Funfair among other yearly programmes.
